Some may be familiar with the novel “A Certain Slant of Light” by Laura Whitcomb. Even more may be familiar with the poem by Emily Dickinson. I did not even know of Ms. Whitcomb’s novel when I chose the name for this blog and so it is dear Emily’s magnificent, if depressing poem I am referring to.
But since this is a personal blog, I would like to add in my own insight. Sometimes, usually in the mornings or evenings, there is a certain slant of light that shines on people’s faces or hair and makes them even more beautiful than they were before. And if you’re lucky, if you’re looking at the right time and you’re at the right angle, sometimes the sun takes residence in your friend’s or family member’s eyes and you suddenly realize that although we are human, we have a share in that eternal beauty that surrounds us every single day.
